Amanda Welch, 96, of Nova, died Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland. Born on March 16, 1927, in Preston County, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Lorain and Laura (nee Cobun) Wolfe. Amanda grew up in West Virginia, moving to Ohio in the mid 50's. She attended Fairmont State University and later Ashland College where she earned her bachelors and then obtained her masters degree from Akron University.

Amanda was an educator and administrator, working her whole career in the Black River School District. She taught first at Sullivan, and then became a principal in Homerville and Spencer. In total she spent 31 years in education. Amanda was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Lions Club, and the Nova United Methodist Church. She prided herself in being a leader. Amanda also enjoyed flower gardening and traveling. Most of all she cherished time with her family. Amanda truly appreciated the love and support given her by friends Regina Holbrook and Gerri Claar.

Survivors include her sons, Willard (Patricia) Welch, of Nova, and Daniel (Marcia) Welch, of Winter Haven, FL; daughter-in-law, Sue Welch, of Fripp Island, SC; grandchildren, Brian, Monte, Damon, Korin, and Katie Welch, and Mandy Anderson; great grandchildren, Hannah and Madison Rowell, Hunter, Makayla, and Cody Welch, Emily, Jordan, and Lauren Swartzel, Justin, Jared, Jacob, Gigi, and Levi Welch, Matilda and Luke Anderson; and a sister, Lana Ruth Rhodes, of Tunnelton, WV. Amanda was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Ralph Willard Welch Sr.; son, Ivan Welch; and brothers, Robert, Russell, and Darwin Wolfe.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, March 25, from 12 until the time of services beginning at 2 p.m. at the Nova United Methodist Church, 257 State Route 511, Nova. Burial will follow at Nova Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Amanda's memory may be given to the Nova United Methodist Church.
