Amber Lynn Blackert, 25, of New London, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015. She was born March 18, 1990, in Norwalk and lived most of her life in New London.
An EHOVE graduate, Amber was getting ready to start a new position with Taco Bell and had worked for a lot of different companies, but she always strived to hold a job.
Amber recently restored her faith with God and attended the Fitchville United Methodist Church.
Her family and friends quoted her as being full of life and helping others. She enjoyed Facebook (Amber Lynn Houghtland) and fishing. Amber loved animals and appreciated their unconditional love. She recently started a Go Fund Me account aptly named "Animals for Amber."
She is survived by her fiancé, Matthew Woods; mother, Pam (James) Burgess; cat, Olaf; siblings, Brittany (Justin) Quillen, Elaine (Patrick) Mirabal and Kenneth Jenkins; as well as sisters Amanda, Sabrina and Chelsea Perkins; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her dad, Melvin S. Yoder, Jr.; grandmothers; aunts, Sandra and Angela, and infant cousin, Levi.
A graveside service will be held 3 pm Friday, September 11, 2015 at Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery with Pastor Tim McCollum officiating. Memorial contributions can be given to "Animals for Amber" Go Fund Me account that will be directed to the Norwalk Humane Society.
