Norwalk, Ohio - Andrew B. Luxon, 90, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully Friday evening, Jan. 19, 2018, at his home, surrounded by family. He was born Jan. 6, 1928 in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late J. T. and Doris (Thomas) Luxon. He worked for the Norwalk City Park and Recreation Dept. and in 1981 transferred to the Street Dept. from which he retired in 1990. Andrew was an outstanding athlete while attending Norwalk High School, playing both football and basketball. After attending high school, he became a member of the Norwalk Umpire Association and umpired baseball and softball games, including Little league, American Legion, high school and college tournaments. And avid boater, fisherman and outdoorsman, he loved spending time on Lake Erie with his friends and family members. An Ohio State, Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavs fan, Andrew loved watching all high school, college, pro football and basketball games in person and on television. A game was always being listened to on radio or television in his home and during the many family cookouts! Andrew is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Gladys Fairchild Luxon, by his children, Alene Ware (Charles), Andrea Downing, Alyce Bergant of Mesa AZ, Alexis Poirier, Annette Cox (Robert), Jay Luxon, and Arin Sanders (Scott). He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, ten great, great grandchildren, and a brother, James T. Luxon (Winnie), Harrisburg PA, and by his niece and nephew. Andrew was preceded in death by his grandson, Marcus Sheldon, and his son-in-law, John Bergant. Calling hours are Tuesday, January 23, 2018, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Pastor Bob Hudberg will officiate.
