Obituary

Anna May Harner, age 91, of New London, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Firelands, New London. She was born April 22, 1919 in Avon, Ohio, daughter of the late Arthur Harrison and Estella (Lieber) Johnson. Anna moved to New London in 1936 where she lived most of her life. She was a 1937 graduate of Ruggles High School. Anna had worked for the C.E. Ward Co. for about 35 years. She and her husband owned and operated Harner Grocery Store on South Main Street in New London when she was first married. Anna was a member of the Ruggles Church. She volunteered at the Salvation Army. She enjoyed crafts and flower gardening. She is survived by her son, Jack (Rachel) Harner of New London; 5 grandchildren and 7 Great grandchildren; her sister, Jean Robinson of Dayton, Tennessee She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Harner in 1994, her daughter and son in law, Jo Ann and Ed King, a great granddaughter Natalie Bucklew, 2 sisters Doris Malone, Alma Pesta and 2 brothers Leon Johnson and Raymond Johnson. A Memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 24, at 11:00 am at the Eastman Funeral Home,200 West Main Street, New London, Oh with interment to take place at Grove Street Cemetery at a later time. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
