Annabel L. Smith, 95, of New London, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the
Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Firelands in New London. She was born January 1, 1914 in Upper Sandusky daughter of the late Harry and Hazel (Tilton) Alspach. Annabel lived in Wyandot County until 1956 when she moved to the rural New London area.
She graduated in 1932 from the Upper Sandusky High School She worked seventeen years in the cafeteria at New London High School. Annabel was a member of the New London United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the U.M.W.S, Elizabeth Circle, and New London Grange 2401, where she was a 50 year member.
Survivors include her four children, Geneva Secrist of Lima, Ohio, Marilyn Keller of Sycamore, Ohio, Richard H. Smith and Charles Edwin 'Ed' Smith both
of Wakeman; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings, Neva Jean Alban and Betty Jane Park.
Annabel was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles R. Smith in 1987, infant granddaughter and daughters-in-law, Dorothy Smith in 1994 and Lois J. Smith in 1997,
2 sisters and 3 brothers.
Friends may call from 6 ' 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009 and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the
Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London. Pastor Cheryl Roshon will officiate. Burial will follow at the Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be given to Hospice of North Central Ohio, Inc., 1050 Dauch Dr., Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to the donors favorite charity.
