Obituary

Arnold Amburgy, 84, of New London, went home to Heaven, Wednesday, October 5, 2011 after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer. Arnold was born on November 6, 1926, in Hueysville, Kentucky, the youngest child of John and Rebecca (Allen) Amburgy. The family moved to Willard, in 1942 so Arnold's father could farm and get out of the coal mines of Kentucky. Arnold met and married the love of his life Juanita (Reed) Amburgy in 1945. Arnold served his country during WWII with Patton's 7th Army as a military policeman. Arnold was general contractor and owned Gulf Oil Station in Willard, Country Store and Gas in Steuben, Fitchville Restaurant and Gas Station, Ruggles Tractor Dealership of Ruggles, Family Resturant of Bucyrus, Savannah Apts. of Savannah, and many rental properties. He was the leader of car sales in Willard, in 1965 for American Motors Ramblers. Arnold bought and sold real estate all of his life until 2009 when he became ill and sold his last home. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters, Stella, Minnie, Marie and Alma; 2 brothers, Ruben and Ralph; 3 sons, Keith, Clarence and Donald and 1 daughter, Diana. Arnold is survived by his wife, Juanita of New London; brother, Harold Amburgy of Greenwich; daughters, Janice Westbrook of Ashland, Beatrice (Randy) Ingram of North Fairfield, Alecia (Dan) Bailey of New London and Patricia (Monte) Marsh of New London; 2 sons, Arnold (Sarah) Amburgy, Jr. of Savannah and Timothy (Cindi) Amburgy of New London; daughter-in-law, Margie (Marty) Amburgy Mutnansky; 21 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London will have calling hours for family and friends on Sunday, October 9th from 2-4 p.m. and a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday with Pastor Tyler Amburgy officiating. Burial will follow with military rites at Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven.
