Barbara M. Carroll, age 66, of West Salem and formerly of Clarksfield, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at her home, after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Carroll was born January 31, 1942 in Elyria, daughter of the late, Don M. & Thelma (Boone) Johnson. She moved to Clarksfield in the early 70's and had only lived in West Salem for a few months. Barbara was a member of the New London Legion Auxiliary Broome-Wood Post #292.
She is survived by daughters, Tonya Hammer of West Salem, Reba Maloata of Hinesville, GA and Roberta (Phillip) Egnor of New London; sons, Michael Smith of Huron, Robert (Lynnette) Carroll and Scott (Jayne) Carroll all of New London; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; step mother, Ursaline Gezzer of Elyria; sisters, Dawn Simon of Tacoma, Washington, Polly Weaver of Atlanta, GA and Jackie Supers of Birmingham; a brother, John Johnson of Angola, IN; and a step sister, Cheryl Johnson of Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carroll in 2003; a son, Mark Smith; son in law, Pago Maloata; and a step brother, Ralph Johnson.
Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, where funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2008. Burial will follow in Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery.
