Barnett W. Jones Jr., 73, of Wellington died Friday night at his home, surrounded by his family. Barney was born to Barnett W. Jones Sr. and Betty Rose (nee Semple) Jones on January 24, 1940 in Wheeling WV. H lived in Warwood, WV until coming to Wellington in 1955. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1958. During his high school years he worked at Whitney Shell Station and was introduced to wellington by its owner Don Whitney.
After graduation he worked in the grocery business with his father in Lodi. He truly enjoyed the people he met and the business he shared with his father. After 5 years he joined the Ohio National Guard, while on active duty he met his wife, Nancy Louise (nee Long) and was married to her for 35 years until her death in 2000 from Melanoma. They had a daughter and a son.
He worked for Ford Motor Company in Lorain from 1968 until his retirement in 1997 as an assembler and up grader. He was a member of UAW 425. In 2001 he married Cynthia Jones (nee Corriggio) and together they built a home in Brighton TWP.
Barney is survived by his daughter Leslie (Joe) Hojnacki of Toledo, son Eric (Leecy) Jones of Wellington, 2 sisters Candace Martin and Sharon Farago, his wife Cindy, step-children Richard Fox, Chris (Mary Claire) Fox of Wellington, Amanda Snyder of Hiliard and four step-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy and his Parents Barnett Sr., and Betty Jones.
He moves from this life to be with the God he loves and to meet again those loved ones who have gone before him. He was an honest forthright and faith filled man who always supported the underdog. Barney loved all of God's creatures.
Fr. James Reymann will officiate at a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington after a private family visitation at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
