Bernice Luella Byers Brennan, 101, went Home to be with the Lord on July 5, 2012 with family at her bedside. Bernice was born January 5, 1911 to Elmer B. Byers and Ada Thompson Byers in Vickery, Ohio. On March 16, 1929, Bernice married Glenn A. Brennan; the couple was happily married for 53 years until his death in December of 1982. She lived in the Sandusky area for 30 years before moving to Brighton in 1957.
A member of the Brighton Congregational Church, Bernice was also involved with the Women's Fellowship at the church. She loved to crochet items, especially doilies, for her family and friends. Bernice was an avid card player and will also be remembered for her delicious baked goods.
Bernice is survived by her son, Delbert C. (Bonnie) Brennan, of Wellington; daughters, Carol S. (Keith) Griffith, of New London and Kathleen E. (Jon) Ogle of North Wilksboro, NC; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn A. Brennan; daughter, Joyce A. Caldwell in 1978; 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 8, from 4-6 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Funeral service will be held on Monday, 11a.m. at the Brighton Congregational Church, 22086 State Route 511, with Rev. John Burgess officiating. Burial will follow at Brighton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the Brennan family suggests donations in memory of Bernice be made to New Life Hospice, 5255 Abbe Rd., Elyria, OH 44035.
