Bette Loughin, 95, of Wellington, Ohio passed away at home on Saturday, August 5, 2023, under the care of her daughter with the amazing support and compassionate care of Mercy New Life Hospice. Bette was born in New Milford, Connecticut, and grew up near Valley Forge in Pennsylvania. During World War II, she was a teenage member of Civil Defense and spotted airplanes from a watch tower near her home in Pennsylvania.
Bette was the Manager of the Twin Valley Recreation Association where she taught swimming and diving plus created recreational water pageants. She was employed by the Twin Valley School District as a secretary and office manager of the Caernarvon Elementary Center in Morgantown, PA and she also was a Clerk to the Board and Office Manager for the Caernarvon Township Board of Supervisors, also in Morgantown, PA. Bette was the Zoning Officer for the township plus member of the Planning Commission. When the need arose, she operated base radio for the township Police Department.
Bette's love of animals was an important part of her life including her admiration of and devotion to horses, plus she enjoyed interior decorating.
Surviving children are Brad Loughin, of Elverson, Pennsylvania, and Becky Loughin, of Wellington. She was predeceased by son, Robert, Jr.; husband, Robert, Sr. and siblings, Lola Syester, William "Bill" Syester, Sarah Syester and Mary Dilks. Bette was the daughter of the late Ora and Elsie Syester.
