Betty L. Chandler, age 91, of Norwalk and formerly of Greenwich, died Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Norwalk Memorial Home after a short illness. She was born December 6, 1917 in Ashley, Ohio, daughter of the late Cline and Cleo (Dennis) Westbrook. She was a 1935 Greenwich High School graduate. Betty had worked at Smitty's Dry Cleaners and Simmons Drug Store, both formerly of Greenwich. Betty was a member of the Greenwich United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Lydia Circle, and the United Methodist Women. She was a homemaker and an avid quilter.
She is survived by 2 sons, Gene (Sheila ) Chandler of Arkansas, Tom (MaryLee) Chandler of Greenwich; her daughter, Judy (Gary) Ebinger of Norwalk; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; her sister, Julia (Lee) Blair of Greenwich; her brother, Robert (Eileen) Westbrook of Washington; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl 'Bud' Chandler in 1998, her brothers, Jack, Max and Lowell 'Bus' Westbrook, her sisters, Virginia, Imogene and Lucille Westbrook, Ruth Hartley, Harriett Clevenger/Hutchinson, Brittanna 'Brittie' Jacobs.
Friends may call from 4 ' 7 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2009 at the Greenwich United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, with Pastor Clarke Hogue officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be given to the Greenwich United Methodist Church, 18 East Main St., Greenwich, Ohio 44837 or to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870. Eastman Funeral Home, Greenwich were in charge of arrangements.
