Obituary

Betty Lou Chase, 90, of New London, died Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Grandma's Place in New London.  She was born November 5, 1932, in Clarksfield Township, OH to the late Treva (Phillips) and Joseph Nestor.  Betty was best known for her vocal and piano skills.  She performed at many local events throughout her life.  When her youngest child was six months old, Betty started classes at Ashland College and received a Bachelor's degree in Education within 5 years.  After graduating, she taught kindergarten in the New London Schools for 17 years.  Betty was involved with numerous Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church activities including: Altar Rosary Society, choir and Catechism.  She also enjoyed quilting, the Red Hat Ladies and traveling throughout the country.  She and her husband, Stuart, were married for 67 years and cherished time with their many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Chase was married June 26, 1954, to Stuart F. Chase who preceded her in death, January 17, 2022.  She is survived by 6 children, Pamela (Wayne) Johnson, of Springboro, Angela Chase, of New London, Brenda Reeves, of Oberlin, Mark (Terrie) Chase, of New London, Paul (Erica) Chase, of New London, and Claudia (Robert) Stanley, of Farmville, VA; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Joanne Parker of Wellington and Margaret DeRubba Pitts of Wellington.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, Norbert Nestor, Robert Nestor, Norma Jean Jones and Mary Holbrook; and 2 great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Enderby and Ophelia Robenstine.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2023, from 2:30-5 PM with a 2:00 PM Rosary Service at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main Street, New London.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 31, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 18 Park Ave, New London, OH.  Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ProMedica Hospice Memorial Fund through the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy can be made at www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.
