Obituary

Betty Jane Esch, 90, of New London, Ohio, passed away at home on Sunday, October 31, 2021 after a brief illness. She was born on November 20, 1930 in Rocky River, Ohio to the late William and Theresa (Gyurica) Farley. She moved to Fitchville in 1931 and then to New London in 1946.

Betty worked at Waldorf Marking Devices for many years and owned and operated "Harvey's" with her husband, Bob. She also worked from home making buttons for graduation caps for C.E. Wards.

She loved music and could often be heard singing quietly to herself as she busied herself around the house. She also enjoyed flower gardening, sitting on the patio enjoying the fresh air and the birds. She was an avid reader and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. She was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. She was a multiple cancer survivor. Betty will live in our hearts forever.

Betty is survived by her children, Melanie (Larry) Cooke, of Upper Arlington, Ohio and Mitchell (Debb) Esch, of Norwalk, Ohio; grandchildren, Aaron (Mary Wells), Sean (Alicia) Cooke, William (Eve), Jeffrey, and Kyle (Colleen) Esch; great-grandchildren, James, Valerie, Paige Cooke, Ella, and Emma Esch; sisters, Eleanor Stockinger and Flo Burris, of California, and Jeanette Ringler, of Greenwich, Ohio; sister-in-law, Esther Farley, of Mansfield, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Robert Esch in 2016; and siblings, William Farley, James Farley, Thomas Farley, Eileen Reed, Lucille Baily, and Cecelia Stober.

Graveside service will be held at Grove Street Cemetery, New London, Ohio on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Toby Thomas officiating.
