Betty Ruth Goodwin, 91, of Wellington, died Friday, January 13, 2012 at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin. Born on May 1, 1920 in Sycamore, Ohio, Betty was the daughter of Roy and May Simpson. After high school Betty graduated from Toledo Hospital Nursing School in 1941 and worked as a nurse for 45 years. She served as the Director of Nursing at Oberlin Hospital and then at Amherst Hospital. Betty also proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wellington. Survivors include her daughter, Janice Louise Goodwin; son, William Goodwin; 2 grandchildren and sister, Marion Baxter of Pandora. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; son, Michael; daughter, Patricia Ann Bailey and brother, Harold Simpson Visitation will be Monday, January 16 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, 125 Grand Ave., Wellington with Rev. Thomas Alexander officiating.
