Betty J. Downing, 61, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, Ohio. She was born on October 28, 1958 to the late William J. and Grethel (Davis) Green in Norwalk, Ohio.

Betty was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Monroeville High School in 1976.  She was member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Huron Eagles, Aerie 2875.  Betty enjoyed boating, riding motorcycles, cooking, spending time with her nieces, shopping, staying home and decorating for the holidays, going to church, family activities, Sunday drives and especially spending time with her family.  She was employed at Fisher Titus Medical Center, Norwalk, Ohio for 25 years, she worked many years for Tenneco, Inc, and really enjoyed working for the Ohio Veterans Home for 17 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Gerald J. "Jerry" Downing of Norwalk, Ohio, by her children, Amos Downing of Berlin Heights, Ohio and Erin Downing of Greenwich, Ohio, and by her grandchildren Wyatt and Simon Downing.  Betty is also survived by her siblings, Kenny Green (Judy Collins) of Norwalk, Ohio and Sharon (Gerry) Martin of Monroeville, Ohio, by her brothers-in-law Butch Kluding of Monroeville, Ohio, and Mark Bores of Norwalk, Ohio, by her sister-in-law, Sue Green of Florida, by several nieces and nephews, and by her very special friends, Ernie, Joanie, and Cookie.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her siblings, Patricia "Sis" Kluding, William "Bub" Green and Tammy Jo Bores, and by her faithful yellow lab and companion Tyler.

Friends may call on Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St. Norwalk, Ohio 44857. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, November 25, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel St. Monroeville, Ohio 44847 with Fr. Ron Schock officiating.  Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Monroeville, Ohio 44847.
