Betty Jane Harless, 81, of Wellington, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, March 25, 2013. She was born on April 28, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to Jack L. and Marie Genevieve (nee Cousineau) Whitworth. She was a 1949 graduate of Avon High School. In her early years, Betty worked as a clothing model in Cleveland. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Wellington and enjoyed socializing at the Barzalia Senior Citizens Club Bible study. Betty was also an avid quilter and took pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Peggy Howk (Barry) of Wellington and Donald Schmittgen (Barb) of Sullivan; grandchildren; Mark McGuire, Cathy Aviles (Chris), Shawn Schmittgen (Melissa) and Heather Barnes. Nine great grandchildren Matthew McGuire, Meghan McGuire, Callee Aviles, Alaina Kempf, Cori Aviles, Ashlee McGuire, Catie Aviles, Justin Barnes, and Anthony Schmittgen. Betty is also survived by her siblings, Lawrence Whitworth (Joan) and Joanne Keene. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, and sister Jacklyn Kosco. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington.
