Obituary

Betty Reeley Rebman, 87, of Ashland, died Monday, February 23, 2009, at Kingston of Ashland. She was born January 26, 1922 in New London, to the late Jesse W. and Erma (OHara) Reeley. She grew up in New London and lived in Cleveland, Savannah and Ashland. Betty graduated from New London High School in 1940, as class salutatorian. She was a 1943 graduate of St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland as a Registered Nurse. She worked as an R.N. at the Cleveland Clinic, then for Dr. H.A. Erlenbach, New London, and retired as a nursing supervisor at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Ashland. She was a member of the New London Legion Auxiliary, B&PW, New London, and several nursing professional organizations. Betty was picked to assist with the first research at the Cleveland Clinic on controlling high blood pressure. Survivors include 3 sons, Michael Rebman of Okinawa, Japan, Scott (Robin) Rebman of Texas and Todd Rebman of Ashland; 2 grandchildren, Scott and Nicole; her sister, Maurine Bohnslav of Reston, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Joan Lash and Mary Peabody; her brothers, Richard, Wilburt and Robert Reeley. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 28 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London. Burial at Grove Street Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the New London Historical Society, 210 E. Main St., New London, Ohio 44851.
