Bobbie N. McManus (nee Russell), 80, of Wellington died Sunday, September 12, 2010, at Elyria Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born May 24, 1930, in Madden, Mississippi to parents, Lee and Eula Russell.
Following high school, Bobbie worked for a telephone company in Mississippi, but later served in the U.S. Army from December 1953 to April 1955. While serving, she met Leo who would become her husband for 52 years. Once moving to Wellington, Bobbie worked as secretary at the Elyria Savings & Trust National Bank (First Merit) branch in Wellington.
Bobbie loved to cook and sew, spend time with friends, and follow her grandchildren's activities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo 'Big Daddy' McManus in 2008, her parents, brothers Coyt and Herman Russell, and sisters Inez Hanks, Katie Blackwell, Evonne McInnis, and Mildred Bradstock. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Jim Cook, and grandchildren, Kevin, Kyle and Rachel Cook, all of Wellington.
Family and close friends may call from 10:30 ' 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. A graveside service with military rites will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wellington Endowment Fund, c/o Darlene Kalman, 201 S. Main Street, Wellington, OH 44090.
