Brenda Joyce Smith

Brenda J. Smith, 66, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at her home. She was born on August 24, 1959, in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Gene and Helen (Gibson) Emerick. Brenda was a 1978 graduate of New London High School and EHOVE where she studied Culinary Arts and Dietary Management.

She enjoyed gardening, diamond art, and loved to redo old houses and spend time with her grandchildren. Brenda had worked for Fanny Farmer for 17 years, the former Janesville Acoustics for 10 years, and EHOVE Career Center before retiring to help care for her granddaughter.

Brenda was a member of the Norwalk VFW Post 2743, and Norwalk American Legion Post 41.

She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, James G. “Jim” Smith of Norwalk; sons, Jayson T. Salmons and Justin T. Salmons, both of Norwalk; sisters, Barbara J. (Brad) (nee Emerick) Beck of Heath, Ohio, and Bonnie J. (nee Emerick) Witmer of Ashland, Ohio; and grandchildren, Scarlett J. Salmons, and Owen J. Salmons.

In addition to her parents, and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her brother in-law, Richard “Rick: Witmer, and special uncle, Bill Gibson.
