Brittanna Z. 'Brittie' Jacobs, age 89, of Greenwich died Friday evening, October 3, 2008 at her home after a short illness. She was born March 23, 1919 in Ashley, Ohio, daughter of the late Cline E. and Cleo B. (Dennis) Westbrook. She had lived most of her life in Greenwich. Brittie was a 1937 graduate of the Greenwich High School. She had worked for the Telephone Company as an operator in Grafton, Plymouth and Greenwich, she had also worked at Midwest Industries in Willard, was the Village Clerk for Greenwich, was the Dispatcher for Greenwich Fire and Police Departments, and had worked at the Sanders Drive In. She was a member of the Greenwich United Methodist Church, the Pythian Sisters of Ohio, and the Greenwich Euchre and Pinochle Clubs. Brittie could be found on the top row of the bleachers at South Central games cheering for her children and grandchildren, and sometimes letting the referees know how she felt about a call, too. She loved life and had a smile for everyone she met.
She is survived by her children, Sandra J. Everetts of Willard, Roberta June 'Bobbie' (David) Ronk of Greenwich, Larry (Betty) Rheinbolt of Mount Carmel, Tennessee, Jerilyn (Jim) Gahring and Gloria (Don) Snook all of Mansfield, Joseph (Janet) Jacobs of Chicago, Ill.; 18 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Betty Chandler of Norwalk, Julia (Lee) Blair of Greenwich; 2 brothers,
Lowell 'Bus' Westbrook of Texas, Robert (Eileen) Westbrook of Washington; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack and Max Westbrook, her sisters, Imogene and Lucille Westbrook, Ruth Hartley and Harriett Clevenger/Hutchinson, Virginia Westbrook, her granddaughter, Kelly Renee.
Friends may call from 2 ' 4 p.m. and 6 ' 8 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2008 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main St., Greenwich. A Pythian Sisters service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday. Friends may also call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Greenwich United Methodist Church, 18 E. Main St., Greenwich with Pastor Georgette Gaston officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery.
