Carl L. Cawrse, 79, of New London, died Saturday, October 31, 2015 at this home surrounded by his family. He was born in New London, on July 31 1936, to the late Wallace L. and Alice I. (nee Shipman) Cawrse. Carl was a lifelong resident of New London and a 1954 graduate of New London High School and held a welding certificate from EHOVE.
Carl joined the National Guard in 1954 and served until 1960. He worked as a farmer for many years and in construction as well. He was in partnership with C&F Construction from 1975-1988 and then CWW Developments. He also worked at Chef Gardens and assisted Gail Pickworth with auctions. Carl was active with the New London Eagles and American Legion, and was a past member of the New London Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed spending time gardening, traveling across the country, and attending free road auctions. Carl cherished time spent with his family.
Carl is survived by Shirley Cawrse; daughters, Susan (Jeff Montgomery) Bilton and Elizabeth (Lance) O'Dell both of New London; foster daughter, Dorothy (Jim) Kinnel of Wakeman; grandchildren, Chad (Nicole) Bilton, Eric (Ashley) Bilton, Sara Bilton, Zach (Kate) Parr and Carl (Dawn) Parr; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean (Jim) Miller of New London, Ann Malone of Davies FL; special sister-in-law, Patricia Cawrse of New London as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Cawrse.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
