Obituary

Carl Richard Ours, Sr., 74, of New London, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Akron City Hospital. Born in Fairfield County on September 12, 1935 to the late Gilbert and Cecelia Ours, Carl graduated from Vermilion High School in 1955. He owned Flowers by Carl in Wakeman and helped other local florists establish shops. Carl was a foreman at Woldarski Fruit Farm and Nursery. A member of the Ruggles and Jackson Grange, Carl also worked with the New London Salvation Army Food Bank. Carl received awards for his volunteer service with the New London High School Band. He loved Bingo, being with his family and crocheting. Survivors include his children, Cecelia (Bill) Cleavenger, New London, Ellen Bowling, New London, Karen (Tim) Heitsche, Hartland, Margaret (Martin) Wiley, New London, Melanie (Charles) Roberts, New London, Carl R. Ours, Jr., Savannah, Theresa Patchin, Norwalk, Jeffrey Ours, New London, Larry Ours, Savannah; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and brother, George Ours of Castalia. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carla Sue Ours and siblings, Robert Ours and Mary McCready. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 15 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m.. Burial will follow at Grove Street Cemetery. The family requests donations be made to the funeral home to aid with expenses
