Carlon E. Given, 64, of Wellington, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland. Born on February 23, 1953 to Carlon and Helen (nee Powell) Given in Fairmont, WV, Carl graduated from Wellington High School in 1971 and attended Jackson Community College in Michigan. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.
He worked for 20 years as a Senior Dock Attendant at Arnco/AD Technologies/Duraline in Elyria. Carl was a military honor member of the VFW Post 6941 and the Eagles Aerie 2051. He loved to play golf and pool. He enjoyed music, loved his kids and liked to socialize with friends. He always rooted for his Cleveland teams, the Browns and Indians. Carl's passion was drag racing; he truly enjoyed watching it and participating in fantasy leagues.
Carl is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sherry; father, Carlon "Mac" Given; children, Shamber Skiles, of FL, Vanessa (Scott) Hamilton, of FL, Jennifer (T.J.) Given, of NE, Carla Given, of FL and Jimmy Minert, of CA; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Survivors also include his sister, Susan Colley, of Wellington, brother Dan Given, of Virginia; stepbrothers, Steve and Scott Trager and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen; son, Aaron; infant brother, James; son-in-law, Jason and stepmother, Myrtle.
