Obituary

Carlon Maxel Given, 96, known as "Mac," passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at his home under the care of New Life Hospice. He was born to Garret Franklin and Ona Jane (nee Stewart) Given on November 27, 1925 in Frametown, WV. Mac proudly joined the United States Army on February 21, 1944 and served in the 397th Infantry. He was part of the European theatre of World War II and was discharged in May of 1946.

He retired from local trucking Teamsters in Elyria and worked for Chapin Trucking in Elyria for many years. Mac enjoyed bowling, playing and listening to music, and especially socializing with friends and family. He was a member of the Wellington American Legion, VFW, and AmVets. Mac also served as the past President of the Wellington Eagles. He was a devoted family man and was loved and admired by everyone who knew him.

Mac is survived by his children, Susan Darlene Colley, of Wellington, and Daniel Ray Given, of Newport News, VA, Scott (Linda) Trager and Steve (Lisa) Trager, all of Wellington, Jeff Moraco, and Lisa Moraco; 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, Glenn Given, of Fairmont, WV, Joe Given, of Woodbridge, VA, and Don Given, of Meridian, ID. Mac was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Bell (nee Powell) and second wife Myrtle (nee Sage); son, Carlon E. Given; grandson, Aaron; sister, Olive Tackett, Eva Fay Leeson, and brothers, John, Henry, Olen, and Ken Given.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Norton-Eastman Funeral Home is assisting the family.
