Norwalk, Ohio - Carol J. McCabe, 88, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018 in Gaymont Nursing Center. She was born July 31, 1929, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Stanley and Hazel (Brown) Skeeles. Carol came to Huron County from Canton when she married her husband of 66 years, Donald A. McCabe. She was a former employee of the C.E. Ward Company of New London, Ohio, the May Company of Sandusky, Ohio, the Myers Pump Company of Ashland, Ohio, and K Mart of Norwalk, Ohio. Carol was a former Girl Scout leader in Fitchville. She enjoyed crocheting, and silhouette cutting. She often volunteered at the Fitchville United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School, making silhouettes of the children. Carol was well loved for her infectious sense of humor, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Donald, of Norwalk, Ohio, by her children, Cathy (Gregg) Dee of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Claudia "Susy" (Mark) Mullins of Norwalk, Ohio, Jonathan McCabe of Norwalk, Ohio, and Reeny (Mike) Harshberger of Norwalk, Ohio, by 9 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her siblings, Ferne L. Miller, Paul S. Skeeles, Dorothy A. Emhoff, Ruth Campbell, William Skeeles, Eleanor J. Haffner, and Robert T. Skeeles. There will be no calling hours or service. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
