Carol Jean Warrington (nee Sheffield), 80, of Sullivan, Ohio passed away Tuesday evening, January 2, 2024 after a long illness. She was born September 23, 1943 in Oberlin, Ohio to Maurice "Barney" Sheffield and Virginia D. (Sanders) Sheffield. She grew up in Wellington and graduated from Wellington High School in the Class of 1961.

Carol Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Warrington, in August of 2021, after 49 years of marriage.

Sadly missed by her sisters, Gayle Wright (Charles), of Wellington, Janis Forest (Clif), of Oberlin; step-daughter, Janelle Barney (Dean), of VA; step-son, Donald Warrington, of Florida; a step-daughter-in-law, Laura Warrington of Lakewood, Ohio; many step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also, her lifelong friend Clara (Greenbank) Tomason. Others who preceded her in death besides her parents and husband were step-sons David and Stephen Warrington; brothers, Richard, Gordon and Kent Sheffield and a nephew and a niece.

Carol Jean was an ER Nurse for many years. Before becoming a nurse she worked at American Greeting Card and Gilford Instrument, both in Oberlin. She was also a hostess at Staffers Restaurant in PA.

Carol Jean had a green thumb and loved working in her many flower gardens and with her many house plants. Other hobbies were crafts, sewing, making dolls, etc. and bird feeding. She loved her many dogs and cats over the years - all of her cats were rescued. She loved nature.

Norton-Eastman Funeral Home of Wellington is handling arrangements. A private service will be held at a later date.
