Caroline A. O’Brien, 85, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, at Gaymont Nursing Center. Caroline was born on August 26, 1940, to the late Carl J. and Bernadine M. (McEnroe) Nickoli.
Caroline was a lifelong resident of Norwalk. A member of the St. Paul High School Class of 1958, she graduated as valedictorian. She later married the love of her life, Ambrose O’Brien, on May 4, 1963, at St. Paul Catholic Church, where they were devoted and active members. Caroline found joy in tending her flowers and spending time with her children and grandchildren. In 2017, she and her husband, Ambrose, were honored with the Huron County Outstanding Senior Citizen Award in recognition of their dedicated volunteer service.
She is survived by her sons, Michael and David O'Brien; her grandsons, Nathaniel, Quentin, and Jacob; her sister, Ann (Tom) Kocher; and nieces and nephew, Sherry Wiseman, Sandy Kocher, and Danny Kocher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Ambrose O'Brien; and grandson, Michael P. O’Brien Jr.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Walker- Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main St. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main St., Norwalk, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow the conclusion of the funeral Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Wakeman.
