Carroll Jane Newman, age 68, of Wellington, died Sunday morning, September 21, 2008 at Wellington Manor Nursing Home. Born July 11, 1940 in Ohio, Carroll was the daughter of the late Delbert and Mabel (Oiler) Hull.
Carroll loved to travel and she owned and operated Knights Travel Agency in Columbus for many years and was a member of the Linden Church of Christ. Carroll was also a member of the Clintonville Women's Club and the Columbus Garden Club, where she served as a floral judge for the Ohio State Fair exhibits. As a child, Carroll was a Girl Scout who remained active with the organization into adulthood; she enjoyed planning camping activities for the Columbus Girl Scouts.
Carroll is survived by 2 daughters, Tamera (George) Melnyk of Penfield and Tereasa (Ward) Tuxhorn of Dunedin, FL; the father of her children, Joe Salyer of Westerville; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Survivors also include a sister, Delma Coughlin of Phoenix, AZ and 2 brothers, Ronald and William Hull both of Columbus. Carroll was preceded in death by an infant son, Joe Salyer and a daughter, Tawnya Salyer.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, September 24 from 6 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 7 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Memorial donations can be given in Carroll's memory to the Alzheimer's Association
