Charles E. Birchfield, age 82, of Wellington died Tuesday, April 15th at Elyria Memorial Hospital. He was born August 15, 1925 in Bellburn, WV to the late Russell and Clara (Bragg) Birchfield. Charles served in the Army and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
Charles was a 48 year member of the Local #860 in Cleveland and was a construction worker for many years. He was also a member of the Huntington AmVets. He loved his grandkids and was a true 'fix-it' man.
Survivors include his wife, Eva Mae, of 57 years; five children, Charlie (Carol) Birchfield of Florida, Barbara (Frank) Kwiatkowski, Brenda (Bob) Rundle, Delmer (Linda) Birchfield, and Tommy (Melinda) Birchfield, all of Wellington; 15 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Charles is also survived by five brothers, Mutt and Pete of TX, Larry of FL, Duke of WV, Don of OH, and a sister, Thelma Shauver of WV. He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Violet, Ernest, Clarence, Howard, Raymond, Cecil, and Curtis.
Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Friday, April 18 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington and on Saturday from 10 am until the time of funeral service at 11 am. Pastor Billy Joe White will officiate and burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with military rites.
