Charles R. "Bob" Lee, 90, a lifelong Wellington resident, died peacefully Sunday, September 27, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. A son of the late Harry Rood Lee, Sr. and Ernestine (nee Wight) Lee, Bob was born on June 19, 1925 in Oberlin. He graduated with the Wellington High School class of 1943. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany and France during World War II.
Bob was the first ASE Certified Mechanic in Ohio. He worked with his father and brother at H.R. Lee and Sons Pontiac and Cadillac. An active member of the First Congregational Church, Bob was also a trustee at the Herrick Memorial Library and the Southern Lorain County Historical Society.
Bob loved working on cars and was very mechanically inclined; he also enjoyed woodworking . A quiet family man, he treasured time spent with his family and traveling with his wife. He will be remembered for his dry wit and good sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Beverly (nee Baker) Lee; children, Linda (Joe) Graham, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Laura (Doug) Allen, of Wellington, and Janet (Scott) Jaenke, of Medina; 6 grandchildren, Carrie (Jason), Mandy (Josh), Jenny, Michael, Thomas and Benjamin; 3 great- grandchildren, Emily, Elizabeth and Charles Joseph. Bob is also survived by a sister, Elisabeth "Libby" Vickers and sister-in-law, Maxine Lee. Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Harry R. Lee, Jr. and brother-in-law, Donald Vickers.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 1 from 1 p.m. until the 2:30 funeral service at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 140 South Main Street, Wellington with Rev. Brian Burke and Pastor Larry Nocella officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. Donations in memory of Bob can be sent to Southern Lorain County Historical Society, P.O.
