Charles L. "Chuck" Carpenter, of Powell and formerly of Norwalk, died on March 28, 2025, at OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital. Born in Norwalk on March 2, 1942, Chuck recently celebrated his 83rd birthday.

He was a member of the '60 NOL basketball championship team and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1960. In 1964 he graduated from Ohio University with a BS in Education.

Chuck taught school and coached school sports for 7 years, including 2 years in Norwalk and 5 years in Auburn Hill, MI.

Later an insurance manager, Chuck began this career with Hartford Insurance in Phoenix. He then moved to Norwalk and became the Marine Manager for Hartford and Kemper Insurance Companies. He also worked as the H.O. Marine Director for Liberty National Fire in Atlanta. Chuck was passionate about his job and was recognized as the Marine Manager of the Year for Kemper Insurance.

He enjoyed golf, traveling (especially cruising), and reading novels.

Chuck is survived by his sister-in-law, Beth Schoenegge, of Powell; nieces, Tracey (Dennis) Reeves Ott and Lynn (Jay) Schoenegge Feldman; 2 great nieces; 2 great nephews and a great-great nephew and niece. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca "Becky" J.  (nee Baxter) Carpenter in 2023; parents, Maxwell and Barbara (nee Zeigler) Carpenter; and many beloved aunts and uncles.
