Charles Vernon May, 83, died Monday, March 13, 2017 at his home with his family. The son of the late Vernon and Doris (nee Parrot) May, Charles was a lifelong Greenwich resident and a 1952 graduate of Greenwich High School.
He owned and operated C. May & Son, a fuel oil business, for 7 years. Charles worked at Norwalk Concrete and W.L. Mead; he was an independent truck driver for hauling steel. He also farmed for many years.
Charles was a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mowing his lawn. His other hobbies included woodworking, caning chairs, camping with his family, and liked cowboy shows and races.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, whom he met in grade school, June (nee Wolfe) May; children, Rodney (Debra) May, of Greenwich, Lisa (Steve) Ray, of North Fairfied and Michele (Michael) Rogers, of Fairfax, VA; 6 grandchildren, Shannon, Jennifer, Kristin, James, Lauren, and Wayne and 5 great grandchildren, Cory, Jamie, Sierra, Anthony, and Savannah.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery with Pastor Bob Hudberg officiating. Condolences to the May family can be made at www.eastmanfuneralhome.com.
