IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Henry
Mead Jr
April 9, 1960 – July 25, 2025
Charles Henry Mead Jr., age 65, of New London passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Cleveland Metro Hospital. Born April 9, 1960 to Charles H. and Doris Ann (Goble) Mead, he was a compassionate man who took great pride in his work at Riveon Mental Health and Recovery. He was a dedicated employee who was passionate about drug and alcohol prevention services, especially counseling youth. As the former Director of the Adolescent and Prevention Departments, work was more than just a job for Charles; it was a calling and a mission to be there for those in need.
Outside of work, his presence was a constant and unchanging force for family and friends. He was strong, stable, and always made himself available to those in need, be it help with a task or just a listening ear. He seemed to always know just what to say, which also made him an incredible storyteller. Charles loved sharing tales, especially with his grandchildren, and his love for those stories and the ones he shared them with will surely live on as these legends are passed from one generation to the next.
Charles also liked reading and genealogy, was serious in his Christian faith, devout in his study of God's word, and found a profound peace in nature. However, family was the most important thing to Charles. He was a devout family man who treasured the time he spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Left to treasure Charles's memory are his beloved wife, Sue (Williamson), whom he wed on September 21, 1979; children, Joshua "Caleb" (Kami) Mead, Santresa "Tracy" (Steven) Balcerzak, Micah (Rebecca) Mead, and April (Jon) Hofener; grandchildren, Griffon, Dominic, Lillian, Talia, Maria, Zoey, Olivia, Nora, and Torin; mother, Doris Mead; and a brother, James "Jim" Mead.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles H. Mead Sr.
