Charles James Mekoleske, 92, of Wellington, died Monday, May 2, 2011 at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange. Charles was born August 20, 1918 in Greenwich to the late George and Emma (nee Arnold) Mekoleske. He proudly served in the United States Navy.
Charles worked as a machinist for the former Romec Pump and Lear Siegler Company in Elyria. He was a very active member of the Penfield Community Church and served as a Deacon. Charles was also very active in the Masonic Lodge in both Wellington and LaGrange. He enjoyed fishing and was a very good cook. Charles loved his family and the time he spent with them.
Charles is survived by his three sons, Charles of LaGrange, Otis of Wooster and David of Wellington; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother, George Mekoleske and a sister, Sonia Canfield. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Edith in 2007. He was also preceded by brothers, Zane and Louis and sisters, Bea and Anna.
Friends will be received on Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Pastor Chris Reutopholer will officiate with burial following at Penfield Cemetery with military rites.
