Charles W. Timbs, 96, of Norwalk and formerly of Wakeman, died Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Norwalk Memorial Home. Born in Norwalk on February 23, 1920 to the late George Edwin and Bertha (nee Crawford) Timbs, Charles was a resident of the Wakeman and New London areas for most of his life.
Charles was a dairy farmer for many years with Townsend Dairy Farm, but also drove truck and worked as a mechanic for F.V. Parker in Wakeman. Charles enjoyed playing bingo and watching the Indians.
Charles is survived by his children Carl Timbs, of Tiffin, Alice Jackson, of Vermilion, Charles Allen (Nellie) Timbs and, Alvin Timbs, both of Norwalk, and Rodney (Margie) Timbs of Wakeman; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary (nee Sees), siblings William, Edwin, Harold, Thelma and Theodore; grandchildren Charles Allen Timbs III and Dianne Timbs.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St, 44851, where services will be held on Wednesday, beginning at 11 a.m., burial will follow at Wakeman Cemetery.
