Charlotte Baltzly, 100, 15 year Wellington resident, died Sunday, November 6, 2011 at her home. Born in Massillon on January 19, 1911, Charlotte graduated from Washington High School in Massillon and Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware. She was a member of the Wellington First Congregational Church and the Friendship Guild.
Charlotte enjoyed sports, traveling, bridge and golf. When residing in Florida, she was the President of the Women's Golf Association of Atlantis C.C. in Atlantis and also the President of the Women's Golf at Seven Lakes in Ft. Myers. Charlotte had 3 holes in one to her credit and in Ohio she was a member of the Women's League at Pheasant Run.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara (James) Wight, of Wellington and Suzanne Stiebeling (Henry) of Carmel, NY; grandchildren, James (Wendy) Wight, Jr., of Hinsdale, IL, Dianne (Roger) Jarosz, of Bluffton, SC, David (Sharon) Wight, of San Diego, CA, Lisa (Dan) Dobinson, of Vermilion, Adam (Anne) Stiebeling and Charlotte (Rodek) Kovalcik, of Patterson, NY; great grandchildren, Nathan (Kayla) Guitar, of Bluffton, SC, Jared Guitar, of LaGrange, Rachael Guitar at Kent State University, Melanie, Hannah and Danielle Dobinson, of Vermilion, Garret Wight of San Diego, Olivia and Nathalie Wight of Hinsdale, IL, Melanie and Adam Stiebeling and Johnathan Kovalicik of Patterson, NY; great great grandchildren, Grace and Caleb Guitar of Bluffton, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley in 1983; parents, Ethel (nee Horn) and Leo Snyder and a brother, Norman Snyder.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 140 South Main St., Wellington. A luncheon will be served following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the First Congregational Church for the purchase of padded chairs for the dining room in Charlotte's memory.
