Cheryl Diane Rym, 59, a Rochester resident, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Firelands in New London. Born to Walter and Ellen (nee Lawhead) Flickinger on August 29, 1952, Cheryl graduated from Elyria High School in 1970. Cheryl loved her job as a cook for Oberlin College. She treasured the time spent with her grandkids, including attending their many sporting events. Cheryl was also involved with the students at the college. Survivors include her children, Brian (Aubrey) Rym, of New London, Rebecca Rym, of Rochester, and Jennifer Rym, of Rochester; grandchildren, Sirena and Orrin; siblings, William Flickinger, of CA, and Barbara Flickinger, of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gene. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, August 2 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tina Siroki officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Rochester Cemetery.
