Clair "Dan" Daniel Church II, of Collins, died on Friday, September 13, 2024 at his residence in the presence of his beloved wife, Joanne. Born October 24, 1955, in Norwalk, he graduated from Western Reserve High School and the EHOVE Welding program in 1974. He had been a lifelong resident of the Hartland area.
An avid Harley Davidson Motorcycle rider, Dan loved the time that he spent on his motorcycle and was a life member of HOG (Harley Owners Group). He also enjoyed other outdoor activities including hunting throughout his life, and he was a life member of the Fitchville Conservation League. He also held an amateur radio license and proudly operated HAM radio as an "Extra" and member of the Huron County Sky Warn and ARES group.
Dan is survived by his wife, Joanne (Rumbaugh), whom he wed on June 28, 1986; daughters, Patricia Jean Church of Parma, and Alicia Rose (TJ) Clark of Mt. Gilead; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters, Carrie (Dale) Pocock, and Darrolyn (Jim) Krippel, both of Marblehead.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Darrol and Georgann (Smith) Church; and a brother, Louis Church.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, OH 44857. A memorial service for Dan will begin immediately following the visitation at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Rick Burkholder officiating. Private burial will be held at Hartland Ridge Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
