Clara Mae Walter, 96, of Greenwich, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at The Willows in Willard, Ohio. Clara was born on March 11, 1930, to the late Frannie Mae Andrew and Willard McVay Andrew Sr. On February 3, 1950 she married Darl Eugene Walter.
A graduate of Greenwich High School, class of 1948. Clara was a wonderful mother and grandmother who was always excited to see people, greeting everyone with warmth and a generous spirit. She was a dedicated member of the Greenwich Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School for several years. She loved playing hymns on her piano and singing along with others. Clara was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and took great joy in decorating her home beautifully for each season of the year. More than anything, she cherished celebrating each holiday surrounded by those she held most dear. She had a special fondness for daffodils, which were a perfect reflection of her bright and cheerful personality.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Darl, and cooking and baking for the family. Clara and Darl delighted in playing canasta with friends and family members. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was one of her absolute favorite pastimes. She cherished playing games with them and always kept an endless supply of snacks ready for their visits.
In addition to her rich family life, Clara worked at the Willard United Bank (Greenwich branch) for several years. She also worked in the office of Ballonoff Products in New London and the office of Central Plastics in Greenwich.
Clara is survived by her two children, Loretta (Randall) Smith of Monroeville and Ronn (Cindy) Walter of Tiffin; grandchildren, Chad (Jaime) Smith, Bryce (Tiffany) Smith, Brandon (Amanda) Smith, Nic (Chrissy) Walter, Ryan Walter, Seth Walter, and Luke (Andrea) Walter; 12 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren; her faithful caregiver for the last 4 years, Eva Jane Hoover.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Darl E. Walter; brother, Willard McVay Andrew Jr.; and sister, Gertrude Sparks.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main Street, Greenwich, OH, where her funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery.
