Clarence L. 'Butch' Swope,66, of Wellington, died Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Allen Medical Center in Oberlin, after a sudden illness.
Clarence was born in Lodi, son of the late, Clarence S. & Mary (Fair) Swope. He had lived most of his life in Sullivan, Ohio. He worked at Neugers Petroleum, was president and owner of Sullivan Oil, and was former Fire Chief for Sullivan Twp. Fire Dept. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, working on lawnmowers and was a Pittsburg Steelers fan.
Survivors include, sons, Richard (Denise) Swope of Elyria and Robert L. (Desiree) Swope of Olmsted Falls; fianc', Robin Storrow; and 2 sisters, Shirley Smith of Wellington and Donna Keifer of Ashland. Clarence was preceded in death by siblings, Idabelle Weining, Dorothy Swope, Francis Denbow, Willard, Paul, and Charles Swope.
Friends may call from 4-7 pm Monday, November 3, 2008 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington, where funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday. Burial will follow at South View Cemetery in Sullivan.
