Clayton Herbert Slaughter, III , of Ashland, died April 2, 2010 at home after a sudden illness, he was 39. Clayton was born April 14, 1970 in Mansfield; he grew up in Ashland, lived in Floyd County, Kentucky for 10 years and has lived in Ashland County the past 7 years. He had been employed at Shelby Wood Products and Premier Roofing of Wadsworth. Clayton was an avid Pittsburg Steelers fan and loved to fish. Survivors include wife, Brenda (Puckett) Slaughter married June 4, 1993; children, Zack Slaughter of Ashland, Cody Slaughter of Ashland, Logan Slaughter of Mansfield and Tim Workman of Ashland; a granddaughter; mother & step father, Debra & Raymond Herschler of Mansfield; father & step mother, Clayton H. II & Juanita Slaughter, Ashland; maternal grandmother, DeLois Perry-Smith of Kentucky. Siblings, Shane Slaughter of Florida, Travis Slaughter of Ashland, Denise Tuttle of Ashland, Nancy Bowles of Ashland, Cassie Hoffman of Mansfield and Troy Herschler of Mansfield. Clayton was preceded by a step brother, Johnny Tuttle. Friends may call Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 am. Evangelist Harvey Puckett will officiate and burial will follow at the Savannah Cemetery.
