Clell D. Shepherd, 79, of New London, passed away on November 2, 2015 at Hospice of North Central in Ashland. He was born in Hueysville, Kentucky on September 10, 1936 and lived most of his life in Ohio. He attended Greenwich High School and graduated from Shelby High School. After graduation Clell served 3 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and worked at Ford Motor Company for 30 years. Clell was a member of the American Legion. He raced greyhounds. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Almas (nee Meade) Shepherd; sons, Stephen (Susan) Shepherd of New London and Robert Shepherd of Norwalk; daughter, Angela Brown of Norwalk; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and siblings, Ruth Shepherd of Cleveland, Cora Jean Hall of Ashland, Tommy Shepherd of Florida, Patricia Newmeyer of Columbus, Sharon (Linroe) Meade of New London and Colin Shepherd of Tennessee. Clell was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Sarah (nee Patton) Shepherd and brothers, Edward Jr., Lowell and Randolf Shepherd. Relatives and friends are welcome from 5-8 pm Wednesday, November 4 at Eastman Funeral Home, New London where a service will be held 11 am Thursday with Linro Meade officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Fitchville Cemetery with military rites.
