Cynthia L. Norton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the age of 70. Born in Medina on November 3, 1954, to the late Ron and Evelyn (nee McClelland) Hildebrandt, Cindy grew up in the LaGrange area and graduated from Keystone High School in 1974.
For 40 years, Cindy worked in the floral industry. She was employed by Puffers, Joyce and Company and Bunnies Flowers and Gifts. Cindy then worked many years at Pat Catans, retiring in 2015.
Passionate about helping her community, Cindy was an active volunteer. For many years Cindy chaired the Memorial Day Parade in Wellington. She was a charter member of the Lagrange Engine Club and prided herself on never missing an engine show. She was also a member of the WRC (Women's Relief Corps). Through 4-H, Cindy was the Master Clothing Coordinator, volunteered at the Lorain County Fair and the Kiddie Tractor Pull.
Her hobbies included needlework, hooking rugs, cooking and tending her flower beds and garden. Cindy enjoyed traveling on bus tours, visiting Amish Country, and celebrating Christmas. She could often be found outdoors feeding birds and tending her animals in the barn. There was never a dull moment with Cindy, she loved being busy.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, George Norton; children, Jennifer (David) Sewell, Beth Norton, and Stephen (Brittani) Norton; grandchildren, Wyatt, Hunter, MacKenzie, and Makayla; siblings, David (Julie) Hildebrandt, Stewart (Theresa) Hildebrandt, Brian (Tammy) Hildebrandt; sister-in-law, Renee Hildebrandt; numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Fluffy Kitten. In addition to her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Hildebrandt.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 6 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main Street, Wellington, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Pittsfield East Cemetery.
