Dale H. Dunlap, age 73, of Hartland Twp., died Thursday, February 7, 2008 at the Hospice House in Ashland, after a short illness. Mr. Dunlap was born November 4, 1934 in New London; he was the son of the late, Harmon & Alfreda (Terwiliger) Dunlap. Dale had lived all of his life in the Hartland area and had served in the Army National Guard Unit of Norwalk.
Dale graduated from New London High School in 1952. He had farmed most of his life. He drove truck for over 10 years. He retired May 1991 from the former New Departure in Sandusky. He was a member of the New London American Legion Broome-Wood Post #292 and the New London Eagles #2869. Dale was a former member of the Ohio wagon Train Assoc. and the Pony Pullers Assoc. He had served as a former Director of the Huron County Fair and Superintendent of Draft Horses. He was a former Leader/Advisor of the Rocking H 4H Club. His hobbies included coon hunting, field trial dog, horses and camping.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara (Powers) Dunlap; his children, Tom (Jackie) Dunlap of Norwalk, Steve Dunlap and Teresa Draper (and fianc', Dale Bowen) all of Ashland and Doyle Dunlap of Gahanna; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and a brother, Lowell (Linda) Dunlap of Collins.
His wishes of a family grave side service were fulfilled Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Hartland Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or the Salvation Army Service Unit of New London, 12 Akron Street, New London, Ohio 44851. Eastman Funeral Home, New London was in charge of arrangements.
