Obituary

Dale Edward Jackson, of New London, died Sunday, November 21, 2010 a few weeks before his 87 birthday at Briarfield of Milan. Dale was born in Olmsted Falls December 4, 1923 to the late Albert and Esther (Schoenherr) Jackson. He had lived in the New London area for 75 years. Dale worked for Stub Ford at Reynold's Lumber Company for many years. Before retiring, he managed the State Liquor Store in Norwalk. He and his wife Charlotte operated the Inn on Main Street in the 1960's. Dale was a life long member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He served as a lector and belonged to the Holy Name Society through which he helped deliver food baskets to the needy. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was named Knight of the Year. Dale helped with many volunteer projects including the remolding of the building that now houses the Father Duffy Center. Dale was an avid fisherman and card player. He volunteered in many activities for the New London Schools: including, umpiring baseball, running the chains at football games, and driving the team bus for football and basketball games. Dale is survived by his wife of 67 years, Charlotte (nee Kramb); his children, Billie Ann (Howard) Duta of Medina, Barbara Jackson of Mayfield Hts, Barry of New London, Larry (Diane) of Chardon, Ohio, and Garry (Cathy) of New London; 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law Mary Jane Jackson of Lodi, Dorothy Jackson of New London, and son-in-law James Mitchell, of New London. He was preceded in death by a daughter Bonnie Mitchell; granddaughter-in-law Amy Mitchell, 2 sisters Dolores Ropp and Marigrace McConnell; and 2 brothers, Wayne and Dean Jackson. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London where a Rosary service will be at 7:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 18 Park Avenue, New London with pastor Douglas Taylor celebrating. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in New London. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 907 West State St., Fremont, OH 43420, or donor's favorite charity.
