Obituary

Dan Shockley, 62, of New London, died Saturday, May 7, 2011 at his home after a sudden illness. He was born on December 9, 1948 in Arizona and graduated from Berea High School in 1968. Dan worked as a machinist at Impact Industries of North Ridgeville and a farrier for the past thirty years. He 'loved life,' the outdoors, snowmobiling and was an avid horseman. Dan was an avid hunter; archery season was his favorite time of the year and loved deer hunting. He enjoyed watching his grandson and stepson race motocross. Dan served in the U.S. Army from 1970-1971 during Vietnam. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Shockley; son, Scott Shockley of Clarksfield; grandson, Wyatt Shockley of Clarksfield; stepsons, Adam Cook of Elyria and Daniel Stark of Avon Lake, daughter-in-laws, Julie and Mary; granddaughter, Lucy Cook and grandson, Chase Cook; sisters, Kathy Sak of Painsville and Patricia Rowland of Pontiac, Illinois. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Vivvian Shockley. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 11th from 4-6 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London. There will be no services.
