Danny W. Sutherland, 81, of Norwalk, Ohio passed Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Fisher Titus Medical Center.

He was born on April 9, 1939 in Nashville, TN. Danny attended Berea High School, where he earned a place in the Berea High School Hall of Fame for track and football. After his graduation in 1957, he attended Kent State University. Danny spent 32 years working for Hug/Oglesby Construction until his retirement in 1995.

He was a member of the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons Local 109 and the Norwalk Eagles Club 711. In his retirement, Danny enjoyed attending auto auctions and buying and reconditioning cars. Danny enjoyed playing cards, and he loved spending time with his family.

Danny is survived by his children, Gregory Sutherland, of Norwalk, Amy Sutherland, of Sandusky, Patrick Sutherland, of Norwalk, Elizabeth Palmer, of Southfield, MI, and Cheryl Sutherland, of Cleveland; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Muriel Hampton and Avril Sutherland-Wagner, both of Berea; and several nieces and nephews.

Danny is preceded in death by his parents, Mattie (Grissom) and Alvin Sutherland Sr.; wife, Shirley Sutherland; son, Daniel Sutherland; and brother, Alvin Sutherland Jr.

His family will receive guests on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 from 11:00am until the time of the service at 12:00pm (noon) at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio 44857, with a graveside service to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Masks will be required at the visitation and service while inside the funeral home. The funeral home has a maximum capacity, so visitors should be prepared to wait outside.
