Darla Jean Jones, 58, a lifelong resident of New London, died Sunday, July 15, 2018, at home surrounded by her family. Born on March 16, 1960, she was the daughter of Madelene (nee Carroll) Chavarria and the late Floyd Schaffer. A hard and dedicated worker, Darla worked at Lake Park Industries in Greenwich. She was an active member of the New London Eagles. Darla enjoyed her friends and having a good time. She especially cherished her grandchildren and her family. Survivors include her children, Jamie (Rami) Schaffer and Rhonda Jones, both of New London; grandchildren, Alexis, Jayson, Kyrstyn, Xzavier, Izaiah, Jaxson, Klowey and Maleah; her life partner, Matthew Cass and siblings, Patricia Finkel, Floyd, Frank and Robert Schaffer. Darla was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Schaffer. A celebration of Darla's life will be held on Friday, July 20th at the New London Eagles from 4-8 pm.
