Darlene Margaret Woods, 74, of Wellington, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 at MetroHealth in Cleveland. Born in Canada, Darlene was the daughter of the late Beverly and Clarice Willison. At the age of 14, she moved to the United States. Dar was a 1965 graduate of Copley High School and a 1970 graduate of Kent State University.

For 35 years, Darlene was a 4th grade teacher at McCormick Middle School in Wellington. She loved teaching and was devoted to her students and fondly called them all "Fred." Darlene was an active volunteer throughout her life; she was a Girl Scout leader, served as a board member for the Southern Lorain Historical Society, and was a trustee for the Ohio Scottish Games.

Darlene loved to travel with her family, using vacations for history and literary lessons. She also enjoyed accompanying her husband on his bus trips.  An avid reader, her favorite genre was murder mysteries by Agatha Christie and Janet Evanovich. The light of her life though was her grandchildren – she simply adored them.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 42 years, Calvin; daughters, Katherine Woods, Alexandra Woods and Victoria (Anthony) Rourke and grandchildren, Remington, Carrigan, Eliza and Jaxon. Darlene is also survived by her sister, Beverley (Bob) Fischer, of Akron, sister-in-law, Sherry Tucker, and her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews, and even a great-great niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Maureen Willison and Kevin Willison.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, August 20, 2021 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Wellington First United Methodist Church, 127 Park Place, and also on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service.
