IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David D.
Manning
April 15, 1945 – August 29, 2024
David D. Manning 79, a lifelong Huntington resident, died Thursday, August 29, 2024, at home, after a long-fought battle with cancer, overlooking his farm and surrounded by his family. Born on Monday morning, April 15, 1945, in Lodi (and working ever since) he was the son of the late Donald and Helen (nee Gingery) Manning. David was a 1963 graduate of Black River High School, where he lettered in football.
For nearly 30 years, David worked at Rockwell Industries, formerly Cleveland Steel. His true profession and love, however, was farming. David first worked his parents' dairy farm before buying his own plot of land in the mid 80's. It was a wooded space that had never been farmed by a tractor and his goal was to clear up to the double hickory tree at the back of his property, a goal he reached.
David was a member of the Farm Bureau, was active in FFA as a youth, and served on the Lorain County Soil and Water board. He had been a Union rep and served as the Zoning Inspector for Huntington Township. David was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spencer for over 30 years. In 2015, David was awarded Cooperator of the Year by LCSW for his conservation practices on his farm.
Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Patricia (nee Toth) Manning; children, Joyce (James) Pippert, of Findlay, and Stephen (Christine) Manning, of LaGrange, and Mark (Stacy) Haramia, of Elyria; grandchildren, Erica Pippert, Sarah Pippert, Isaac Manning, Jenna Manning, Megan (Douglas) Isenberg, Hannah Haramia, Noah Haramia, and Matthew Haramia; great grandson, Skylar Isenberg; and siblings, Linda Bradley, of Spencer and Richard (Marsha) Manning, of Huntington.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 2 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Spencer, 302 W. Main St., Spencer, where family and friends will also be received on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until the Funeral Service beginning at 11a.m.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Hospice of the Western Reserve for their compassion and care. Donations in memory of David can be directed to the Friendship APL, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035. Condolences may be given at www.norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com.
